US West Coast drinkers speak Japan Craft Beer’s New Language

The Japanese government stimulates international demand and boosts the country’s exports. Its overseas promotions and branding platform is JETRO (external trade organization). And the Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center (JFOODO) handles its Craft Beer.
JFOODO represents 17 Japanese craft brewers distributing across the US.
Japanese Craft Beer interest attracts industry expert attention. And JFOODO invites the US to ‘Drink in a New Language’ following recent tasting events success.
Japanese Craft Beer Week holds promotional activities along the West Coast. Consumer events happen this week in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Portland.
Fifteen beers from six Japanese breweries showcase the country’s unique flavours and ingredients. Matcha, yuzu, Japanese chestnuts, sweet potato, umami-packed bonito flakes and more. And there are also beers brewed using traditional sake-production methods.
The participating breweries are:
- COEDO Brewery
- DHC Beer Co.
- Karuizawa Brewery
- Kizakura
- Miyazaki Hideji Beer
- YOHO Brewing Company
Locations include LA’s Harajuku Taproom, which offers a specialized beer-food menu. And events in San Diego see four venues presenting unique Japanese beer menus:
- HINOTEZ Japanese Restaurant
- YAKYUDORI Japanese Yakitori Bar
- TAISHO Japanese Sake Bar
- YAKITORI HINO
