Here's an interesting, thought-provoking stat. for an industry hammered by recent crises: Beer has overtaken wine to be the drinker's favourite tipple in France. Unimaginable! Yet it highlights the continued rise of beer as an artisanal product that further widens the gap between beer's historic "bad reputation" and today's drink of choice for discerning socialites. 🍺

Something special returns. Few beer festivals leave a more striking impression on visitors than the Warsaw Beer Festival. It excels with ease in every area. For seasoned beer travellers the unique experience is hard to beat — anywhere. Many other so-called ‘events’ pale in comparison.

It's not just the originality and fresh, inspiring flavours that burst from thousands of beers. Nor is it the proud-but-humble brewers, hundreds of whom demonstrate that a talent for taste is shared by the many, not just the few.

No. it's the simple art of customer satisfaction. The organisers effortlessly master the skill for creating something truly unique. Great beer with no unnecessary egos is what makes a great beer festival.

Do we recommend Warszawski Festiwal Piwa? Yes — more than any other. After two years of subdued, sombre reflection on a lack of memorable moments, we recommend you go and learn why everything you know about beer festivals so far lacks what you don’t yet know is missing.

AN ODE TO PAST JOYS

A return to normality signifies the reappearance of events that have been a rarity over recent years. Peering out from behind the damage, beer festivals may now take a few tentative steps towards certainty. A social thirst awaits.

The clocks stopped in 2020; the sand vacated the hourglass; sundials lay obscured by dark clouds – omens of bad fortune. It is year zero again: a time for rebuilding past success.

The sunrise illuminates an industry that faced its last sunset when the spring blossoms ushered in a new decade. Winter bows its head and departs into the wings as beer festival season takes to the stage. And it is greeted by a standing ovation unlike any other.

WHY DO SO FEW EUROPEAN BREWERIES CONFIRM THEIR BUSINESS IMPACT?

Any brewery believing it not only does things right, but also does the right thing ought to prove it can be a Best for the World business too.

Having listened to Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. (Ontario, Canada) — a Best for the World business — give excellent best practice advise on becoming a top-performing Certified B Corps, it is apparent that breweries are generally underrepresented in the impact field.

A search through the B Corps directory reveals only a handful of European breweries meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Why not more?
